Circuit Shelf Agreement

Version 1.1 · effective on the date you sign · PlainSight — Insightful Actions

This is a different deal from the Green Room's, and the difference is the whole point. The Green Room sells your bit to somebody who wants to perform it. The Circuit Shelf sells your sets to somebody who wants to practise with them, inside our Simulator, and that is all they ever get. If you have signed the Contributor Agreement, that one still governs the bits you sold there. This one governs sets you write for the game.

1. Who this is between

This agreement is between PlainSight — Insightful Actions ("PlainSight", "we") and the comedian who submits mini sets and signs below ("you"). It covers only the sets you submit and we accept. It does not make you an employee, a partner, or an agent of ours, and it gives us no claim on anything else you write.

2. What a buyer actually gets — read this one twice

Nobody buys the right to perform your material. A buyer pays for the ability to run your sets inside the PlainSight Stage — our practice room — where the software listens to their timing and scores them. They may not perform your set for an audience, record it for release, publish it, print it, or sell it. We do not offer them that right, at any price, and we will not start offering it without a new agreement signed by you.

If a buyer asks us for a performance license on Circuit Shelf material, the answer is no. If you want to sell performance rights to a piece, that is what the Green Room and its Contributor Agreement are for, and the two are separate decisions about separate work.

3. What you keep

4. What you grant us

For each set we accept, you grant PlainSight a non-exclusive, worldwide right to:

That is the entire grant. It does not include selling your set as text to be performed, licensing it to third parties, printing it, or including it in any product other than the Stage.

5. The pack, and how it is sold

WhatTerms
A set2 to 5 minutes of material. 10 minutes is the ceiling; runtime is measured from the beats at submission and anything over is refused before it reaches us.
Going liveYour pack is pending until three sets are accepted. Nothing is sold while it is pending — no one can buy a pack with two sets in it.
The price$30, the same for every comedian on the shelf. One purchase opens every live set under your stage name.
It growsSets you add later are included for everyone who already bought the pack, at no further charge, and the price never changes.
The ceiling25 sets in a pack. When it is full you may open Volume II — a second $30 pack under the same name, on these same terms.
CategoriesSets are filed under the shelf's existing categories. We add new categories when there is enough material to fill one; you cannot create one by submitting to it.

6. Money

7. Beats, editing, and the AI punch-up

Two different things happen to a set, and you control both.

Either way your share is 70%: beat-marking and editing are services we provide, not claims of co-authorship, and neither gives PlainSight any ownership of your set. Sets that were AI-punched-up are recorded as such.

8. We may decline a set, and that is not a verdict on the writing

A set can be excellent on a stage and wrong for this room — too long, built on crowd work the software cannot hear, or written so the laughs do not fall where beats can be marked. We will say which of those it is. Declining a set is not a judgement of you or your act, and it does not affect sets we have already accepted.

9. What you promise us

If a claim arises from a breach of those promises, you are responsible for it. That is the ordinary risk of selling your own writing, and it is the only liability this agreement puts on you.

10. What we promise you

11. Retiring a set, and ending this

Either of us may end this agreement at any time, in writing. On termination, and on any request to retire a single set, we stop offering the affected material to new buyers within five business days.

People who already bought your pack keep what they bought. That is the one thing we cannot undo for you, and you should sign this knowing it: a set somebody has paid to practise with stays in their copy of your pack. Your right to be paid on sales already made survives, and so does §10. Nothing else continues.

12. The rest

This is the entire agreement about the sets you submit to the Circuit Shelf, and it replaces any earlier conversation about them. It does not amend or replace the Green Room's Contributor Agreement, which continues to govern any bits you sold there. Changes have to be in writing and agreed by both of us. If one clause turns out to be unenforceable, the others stand. This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States.

Signed by the comedian named on the submission, on the date recorded with it.
